Sarah Westcott/Doggie Academy

dog, labrador, training, puppy, puppies, dogs, obedience, agility, brooklyn, park slopeSarah Westcott, CPDT-KSA is the owner of Doggie Academy and founder of the Brooklyn Dog Training Center. As a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, she offers obedience training and behavior counseling to New Yorkers and their dogs. In addition to private sessions, she teaches puppy, manners, behavior and agility group classes.

Sarah officially launched Doggie Academy in 2007. She is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator, a Mentor Trainer for CATCH Canine Trainers Academy, certified in Cat & Dog First Aid by the American Red Cross and a former trainer for The Good Dog Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to training and certifying dogs for animal assisted therapy. She has fostered dogs for the ASPCA's Behavior Department, including a Pit mix named Hope featured on Animal Precinct. Her late Labrador, Charleston, was a Good Dog Foundation therapy dog and featured in catalogues and on Law & Order. Sarah is also an agility instructor at Camp Gone to the Dogs, a vacation camp in Vermont for people and their dogs.

She believes that training should be fun for both dog and human and strives to be a positive influence on that relationship. She lives in Brooklyn and enjoys training and competing in dog agility with her Labrador Retriever, Hank. Together they have earned several titles in AKC and USDAA. Sarah & Hank were honored to be amongst the competitors at the very first Master’s Agility Championship at Westminster and were thrilled to win the 24″ Excellent Standard class!

Renee Payne/Walk This Way

Renee Payne Walk This WayRenee graduated from the Animal Behavior Center of New York in 1999, is a Professional Member of the Association of Pet Dogs Trainers, has been certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers since their inception in 2001, and is a certified tester for the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program. She has been interviewed by CBS News, Fox News, The New York Times, CNN, Esquire magazine and various other media outlets as a behavior expert.

Renee evaluates the adoptability of dogs with aggression problems for local shelters and rescue groups, conducts free agility and dog run etiquette seminars at local dog runs, and taught learning-abroad seminars and dog training certification programs to students from Japan for two years. She designed a written and interactive interview process for co-op buildings to evaluate potential canine residents, wrote several articles about dogs and kids for the Nick Jr. Channel's website, and has contributed articles to numerous other print and web-based outlets on topics ranging from training and behavior problems to breed traits. Renee has run a dog trainer internship program since 2002, and conducts "How to Meet a Dog" seminars for young children at various facilities throughout the New York area—a topic she co-authored a children’s book about in 2009.

Walk This Way was voted into the top ten in Citysearch’s Best Pet Services, and works with The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC Animals.

Dani Santanella/Urban K-9

Renee Payne Walk This WayDani Santanella, CPDT-KSA is certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and Triple Crown Academy for Professional Dog Trainers. She has been training dogs and their owners for 9 years. She is a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals and The Association of Pet Dog Trainers and a Field Representative for Paws With A Cause.

Dani started training in 2004 in when her Husky mix started exhibiting aggression towards other dogs both on and off leash. With the transformation of her own dog her passion for training began. She has competed in Competition Obedience with her Husky Mix Mila earning a UCD title and is currently training her Labrador Rain in Agility and showing in Competition Obedience. Rain has earned a American Kennel Club CD title and a United Kennel Club UCD title. Currently, Rain is training in Open and is a certified service demo dog with Paws With A Cause.
